We take great pride in our worm castings. We raise African Nightcrawler worms in our indoor facility, where we can monitor the temperature to ensure optimum growth and health for our worms. Our worms are fed a rich compost, which contains a wide variety of minerals and trace elements required for best possible plant growth in water soluble form.
Our worm casting process consists of thoroughly separating our castings from the bedding material to ensure that we are providing you with the purest castings. The process for our premium worm castings is as follows:
The harvester shown below has three sections of screen and the bedding material is placed into the harvester at the front (the left side of the picture) and travels to the right over the screens. The first two screens are 1/8 inch mesh and the pure worm castings fall through these two screens and into a collection bin below (not shown). The third screen is 1/4 inch mesh and the cocoons and smaller particles of uneaten bedding fall through this screen into a bin below. The worms and larger particles of uneaten bedding exit the back end of the harvester into collection bins.
The casting material is stored in bulk storage until it is bagged for a customer or sold in bulk containers of various sizes.
Our standard bag is a 16 quart bag that can be shipped individually in a box or on a pallet for larger quantities.
Our largest bulk container is a Tote Bag that holds about 2000 pounds (about 2 cubic yards).
Customers also bring their own containers and purchase the quantity they need (from one gallon to 200 gallons)
One gallon of castings weighs about 5.5 pounds.
